A historical step for the traditional medical systems in India who so far were administered by the Department of AYUSH under the Indian Health Ministry. Today they have their own independent Ministry, AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) with more liberty, means and power of action for the development of their medical systems who so far evolved in the shadow of modern Western medicine within India.
For Ayurveda this is a huge step that promises most needed developments in the field of professional training, clinical practice and research required for hight standards in its globalilsation process.
